Rose Hip Oil - Part II

SCIENTIFIC STUDIES ROSE HIP OIL

Although the Indians Patagonian rosehip used to maintain youthful skin, heal wounds and treat various ailments the therapeutic properties of its oil were officially "discovered" only thirty years ago thanks to a study by the School of Chemistry and Pharmacology the University of Concepcion in Chile and the results were astounding. It was noted that the continued application of the oil of this plant effectively helping to attenuate scars and wrinkles and rejuvenate the skin in almost 200 patients with scars caused by surgery, burns, and other conditions that caused premature aging, and all this without causing adverse reactions or side effects.

Obviously this interesting work has been followed by many others over the three decades that have achieved the intended contrast properties of this plant. Not to make the list too long will mention only some of the institutions that have conducted research on rosehip oil: Department of Dermatology, University of Munich (Germany), Kingston University (UK) , the Mayo Clinic (USA), the University Hospital of Geneva (Switzerland), Central Michigan University (USA), the University of Wales (UK), the University of Milan (Italy), the hospital University of Helsinki (Finland) and the National Cancer Institute of the United States, among many others worldwide.

Well, the conclusion reached by the researchers is that the therapeutic benefits of this oil that reside in its interesting nutritional composition, rich-as mentioned-fatty acids and vitamins. Thus, for example, has a high content of linoleic acid (about 45% of its composition) and linolenic acid (about 30%), essential fatty acids and polyunsaturated that confer flexibility to the permeability of cell membranes and are directly related to the synthesis of collagen and elastin, substances that give strength and elasticity to the skin. Besides these polyunsaturated acids regulating defense mechanisms and cell growth as well as the biological processes involved in the regeneration of different tissues. But also, rosehip oil contains oleic acid and lesser amounts of palmitic, stearic and arachidonic also contribute to its renowned regenerative capacity.

Another significant-compound largely responsible biological properties of this oil on the skin and tissue-trans retinoic acid is the tretinoin or that it is in small concentrations (from 0.01 to 0.5%) but sufficient to confer the ability rosehip reduce tumorigenicity of cells and epidermopoyesis and accelerate tissue regeneration, reducing the size and improving the appearance of scars, including old-to attenuate or eliminate the wrinkles and prevent the signs of premature skin aging. It also has a marked anti-inflammatory action as scientists discovered Samecki Pommer and who attributed the finding of this form of vitamin A.
